Review "Sweet Surrender" by Ioana Visan - The Impaler Legacy Series #1.5

Synopsis (Goodreads):
At the end of The Impaler's Revenge, Liana confessed she was dating a doctor. This short story unveils how that came to be.

My Review:
This story continues the first novella of The Impaler Legacy Series.
After President Stănescu's resignation, the Little Council got involved in Romania's political affairs to prevent things getting out of control. They have become more vigilant to keep the vampires outside our borders and everyone safe at all costs. Also, Maximilien's news is making them nervous and distrustful towards what's going to happen in New Zealand.

My sweet Liana is better now and her wounds are almost healed, but Dr. Jesse Carver still pays attention to her condition and convinces her to let him check her vitals at home. This is the point when their relationship begins and the readers learn more about the man behind the title of "doctor".

I really liked the story, because it captures the first moments between Liana and Jesse and his love confession. At first, I was skeptical about this character and I did not appreciate him as much as I do now, but he turned out to be a great and mature guy who would not hesitate to risk his life to take care of the persons he loves, even skipping the fact that he hates vampires. The bond that encloses both makes them more human, more sensitive, in a world where the thirst for blood and power is ready to conquer all. Also, together are stronger, but are they strong enough?
